CHARITY FOOTBALL MATCH – FRIDAY 25TH APRIL 7.30PM AT YORK ROAD

If you want to have a laugh, come and see a team of Maidenhead Boys & Girls Managers & Coaches take on the Geoff Thomas Foundation XI.  This should be a fun evening out for all the family with ticket prices likely to be £1 adults, 50p children.  All proceeds will be donated to the Thames Valley Air Ambulance, who have come to the aid of our players on several occasions.  Manager Sharon Astle will be putting this team of natural athletes through its paces!  Visit www.geoffthomasfoundation.com & www.airambulancetvac.org for details of the activities of these charitable organisations.

ASPIRE TO FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF CLUB ACHIEVERS

We are very fortunate to have so many girls and boys playing football representing our Club colours.  A few of these players over the years have gone on to greater football success with higher teams and others have been selected on their skills and talent to play for league rep teams and county:

SCML U10 GIRLS REP TEAM – PLAYING TODAY 11/3 AGAINST READING FC

The South Chiltern Minor League is based in Reading and started the first Girls League in Berkshire which is now in its 4th season. This season has seen the start of its Girls Rep teams which began with the U14 Girls 11aside who played recently against NEHYL at Palmer Park Stadium.  The U10 Girls Rep team 7aside team play their first match tonight against Reading FC.  With a maximum of 4 players allowed from a team, Maidenhead have 4 players playing tonight at the John Madejski Academy:  Goalie Beccy Collins, along with defender Abigail Dow, midfielder Kirsty Matthews and striker Laura Palfrey.

PLAYERS WHO HAVE GRADUATED TO MAIDENHEAD UNITED FIRST TEAM SQUAD

Ryan Hazel and Kieron Hudson, who have been at Maidenhead Boys & Girls FC, since the age of 9 under Ray Turner, have made it into the First Team Squad at Maidenhead United.

FORMER MAIDENHEAD GIRLS PLAYER PLAYING FOR FULHAM WOMEN

Sarah Lipscombe, now 22, played for Maidenhead Girls before going on to Fulham, Reading and recently back to Women’s Southern Premier League side Fulham who play home matches at Burnham FC.  Fulham Women, who were relegated last season from the highest division in the country, are now hot favourites to return at the first attempt, sitting top with 46 points, 7 points clear of runners-up with 3 games to go.  Sarah is currently recovering from a knee injury but has scored a few of their 61 goals and can be found at Burnham supporting the team.

PLAYERS PLAYING FOR U16S COUNTY SQUAD

Andy Wells, Lee Barney, Jake Chance, Jamie Winter & Kane Murray have all made it into County football.

SCHOOLS COUNTY PLAYERS

George Lock is representing U16 Boys in the Schools County Squad and for the girls Katie Stevenson has also been playing for Schools County.  In Katie’s case, the schools chose players to go for trials at Palmer Park Stadium for U16 Girls.  They went into a league of 5 teams with Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Somerset and Cornwall, coming runners-up to Hampshire (the previous year’s overall winners) so went through to the Nationals against Essex, who they unfortunately lost to.
