MB&GFC U17 GIRLS PROGRESSION TO WOMEN’S FOOTBALL This season’s U17 Girls played in the North East Hants league and won their league without dropping a point. They are also through to the League Cup Final which will be played at Cove, Farnborough on Wed 23rd April. Once girls turn 16 they are eligible to play women’s football and several of the girls have already been picked for nearby Burnham Ladies who play in the Southern Region Women’s Football League Division 1 which is in the middle of the women’s football pyramid. The girls who have already been selected are twins Katlyne and Coralie Scannell, Alex Dover, Jo Stanton, Caroline Masterman-Smith, Soraia Nobrega, Amy Holdaway and Siobhan “Donut” Sherwin. Kat, Coz and Alex have scored and, along with Caroline, have all played 4 games.
MB&GFC U16 BOYS BERKS & BUCKS FA CUP FINAL Our U16 Boys are in the B&B FA U16 Cup Final after winning the semi final on penalties. The final is on Sunday 20th April at 11am at Buckingham Town Football Club.
CHARITY FOOTBALL MATCH – FRIDAY 25TH APRIL 7.30PM AT YORK ROAD If you want to have a laugh, come and see a team of Maidenhead Boys & Girls Managers & Coaches take on the Geoff Thomas Foundation XI. This should be a fun evening out for all the family with ticket prices likely to be £1 adults, 50p children. All proceeds will be donated to the Thames Valley Air Ambulance, who have come to the aid of our players on several occasions. Manager Sharon Astle will be putting this team of natural athletes through its paces! Visit www.geoffthomasfoundation.com & www.airambulancetvac.org for details of the activities of these charitable organisations.
SCML U12 GIRLS REP TEAM Following the launch last season of boys rep football for the South Chiltern Minor League, this season has seen the start of girls rep football for this league. MB&GFC had the maximum number of girls selected at U10 (Abigail Dow, Beccy Collins, Laura Palfrey and Kirsty Matthews) and in the recent trials for the U12 Girls SCML Rep team, we put 3 players forward and all 3 were selected: Ruth Dow, Ellie Murphy and Jemima Coulson. For this trial 14 teams were allowed to send 5 players, so this is quite an achievement.

WOMEN’S FA CUP FINAL: ARSENAL V LEEDS Mon 5/5 (Bank Holiday): Women's FA Cup Final at Nottingham Forest 1pm Live on BBC1 Group tickets £1 adults, £1 children – hoping to organize a coach trip – last year’s attendance 24,529. This is a brilliant day out for all the family with a real football carnival atmosphere and lots of football related activities prior to kick off. I need to order the group tickets by 25th April so let me know if you would like to be included. With Everton having beaten Arsenal in the League Cup Final, the Arsenal Ladies who did the Quadruple last season (UEFA Cup, FA Cup, League Cup and League) are no longer invincible, although they still include most of the England Women’s team along with other International players. With a month still to go, ticket sales have already passed the 10,000 mark, see: www.thefa.com/womens.
